Caro-Kann Exchange Variation
[edit | edit source]This move develops the knight and threatens to develop the light-squared bishop to g4, attacking the queen. White usually continues with 6. Bf4, allowing 6...Bg4, where white plays 7. Qb3, putting pressure on black's b- and d-pawns. White may also play 6. h3, still not allowing the prefered development of the c8-bishop.
