Parham Attack
[edit | edit source]4...Nf6
[edit | edit source]Black blocks the attack from the queen. Although the black knight is "pinned" to the pawn (If it were to move, white would play Qxf7#), Black has been handed the moves ...Bg7 and ...O-O on a platter. Another idea is if White doesn't defend d4, instead playing 5. Nc3?, (which is also a common response between low rating players) Black has 5...Nd4! 6. Qd1 Bg7.
